Die 17jährige Angelika zieht nach Leipzig und wohnt ein paar Monate zur Untermiete, bis die Eltern nachkommen. Untermieter Thomas, Philosophiestudent und Radsportler, tauscht ihretwegen murrend sein großes Zimmer gegen eine Kammer. Und auch sonst gefällt ihm einiges nicht an der neuen, hübschen Nachbarin, zum Beispiel ihre Männerbekanntschaften. Ein flotter Marineoffizier, ein Fotoreporter und ein Mitschüler machen ihr abwechselnd den Hof. Daß Thomas in Wirklichkeit die Eifersucht plagt, kommt ihm gar nicht in den Sinn. Und als Angelikas Vater ihn bei einem Besuch bittet, ein bißchen auf das Mädchen aufzupassen, nimmt er die Aufgabe sehr ernst. Bis zum Happy End aber müssen noch die Verehrer ausgeschaltet und ein über Angelikas Lebenswandel aufgebrachtes Klassenkollektiv beruhigt werden.

Angelika is seventeen when she moves from Naumburg to Leipzig. Her parents will only be moving to Leipzig later so she has to rent room from Mrs. Häublein in the meantime. She has a good time in her new lodgings and adjusdts well in her new class at school where she becomes the focus of attention and she even likes her new teachers. There’s only one hitch: it is not so easy after all to suddenly have to be accountable for everything, to cope with complicated situations by herself and not to let things get her down. In many ways, Angelika is really quite naive and trusting like a child. People exploit this and she learns to her consternation that she is easily badmouthed.
Thomas, a philosophy student and active cyclist, has also taken up digs at Mrs. Häublein’s place. He of course witnesses almost all of Angelika’s ups and downs. At first, he can’t stand the young woman, feeling cramped by her presence. But when her father asks Thomas to keep an eye on her, he takes this task seriously and starts taking a liking to her. Angelika experiences her first great love with Thomas in "Little Paris" - a term used for Leipzig, originally coined by Goethe.

La giovane Angelika si trasferisce a Lipsia dove vive qualche mese in subaffitto prima dell'arrivo dei genitori. Thomas, il suo subaffittuario, le cede la sua stanza, nonostante non condivida l'amicizia della bella ragazza con un ufficiale della marina, un fotoreporter e un compagno di classe. Il padre di Angelika, in visita a Lipsia, gli chiede di stare attento a sua figlia. Thomas, segretamente innamorato della ragazza, prenderà l'incarico molto sul serio. Ma prima del lieto fine dovrà annullare gli altri pretendenti e imporsi sui compagni di classe di Angelika. (Italienisch)
