In November, the DEFA-Foundation dedicates the montly film-serie to the director Petra Tschörtner, who died in July. In her films, she gave attention to the weak people of the society with a lot of affection but in a laconic and unsentimental way.
SCHNELLES GLÜCK (1988) shows little events at the racecourse in Berlin-Karshorst: Chance of winning, betting, impressions about the horses. Herta Rogau, who works since many years behind the betting-counter, narrates her experiences and stories about this world.
In BERLIN – PRENZLAUER BERG – BEGEGNUNGEN ZWISCHEN DEM 1. MAI UND DEM 1. JULI 1990 (1990), the music band "Herbst in Peking" sings the song "We need revolution" in ruins of the Berlin Wall. The atmosphere there is confus, melancholic and anarchical.

HEIM (1978) is about the childhood of Petra Tschörtner children's home Menthin. Alcohol abuse, violence by the parents, case of death in the family are causes of the orientation of such home. The film was planed to be shown before the film "P.S." (Roland Gräf) but was forbidden until 1990.
Ederly people in their home are the theme of UNSERE ALTEN TAGE (1989). They become enough to eat and medical care, but the TV is their best companion.
DAS FREIE ORCHESTER (1988) consist of factory workers, sales people or maintenance men. In their vanguard music, they try to live with the unfulfilled and the unsaid of their lifes.
